Excitement around every corner, and at every altitude.

Safe and sound in Europe

sunny 18 °C

We thought it was only in the movies that announcements were made "is there a doctor onboard?"' But no, it is real and it does happen. Not to worry though, not only was it not for one of our group members, the woman who passed out in the aisle was, eventually, taken back to her seat. Yes there was a doctor on board. Yes they had to use the sphygmomanometer. Every things seemed OK. All this right in front of three of our students.

The KLM flight attendants are great, but the entertainment system was not; hand-held remotes embedded in the arm meant that a shifting in the seat might turn on your screen while you are trying to sleep, or pausing a movie to relieve oneself might result in not being able to start the movie again. Please don't tell me what happens at the end of Birdman... he was in the hospital and the movie was paused and then disappeared into the ether..

The kids are all excited, tired, and happy. The flight was smooth, the food good (relatively), and the seats were as expected. The word "sardine" comes to mind, but it is economy class. Ah, what we endure for a cultural experience.

Amsterdam to Paris was a breeze. One of the most efficient customs and security checks we have encountered. Our luggage arrived with us (BONUS!) and the bus was waiting. To the hotel, then to the restaurant for a fabulous meal and scrumptious dessert, then off to Norte Dame for mass. Beautiful setting for a beautiful service. And not just one Bishop, but two; the Bishop of Haiti, and the Bishop of Paris.! Afterwards we took pictures outside, stood on the centre of Paris, and then embarked on the hunt for the Metro. A short while later we were back at the hotel and... we are all bone tired and ready to crash.

Good night
